It’s easy to get worked up about what’s going on around us. Some­how we think we should be in con­trol but we’re not. We try to get peo­ple to do what we want, all the while get­ting more ruf­fled. Here’s the prob­lem. Much of the time we are largely to blame. Employ­ees drive us crazy but we fail to lead well. Chil­dren act up but we par­ent poorly. Sub­con­trac­tors under per­form while we fail to communicate.

As I sit here watch­ing my daugh­ters soc­cer game a father from the other team (shown above with iden­tity con­cealed to pro­tect the obnox­ious) is foam­ing at the mouth and yelling cease­lessly at his daugh­ter because in his opin­ion she’s not pay­ing atten­tion to the game! Hello?!
